1999 model, it has twin front discs, oil cooler and rear hugger/mudguard. try not to ride for short distances as you will get condensation in the engine, especially in winter. Never broke down, though sometimes problems with ignition…

Smooth, quiet and nippy. It handles well and is quite confidence inspiring.

The reliable and well proven engine has a good heritage relating to the XJR of the 80's, so Yamaha have had a lot of time to 'get it right'.

please consider, by now the bloody thing doesnt even start? Good condition when I got it, now had it 5 years...done 8k (was 23k when bought), fitted 2 michelin roadrunners...excellent tyres, purpose made for XJ type bikes. 0.58 litres/100 km (172.4 km/l or 405.55 mpg). bigdeal Bad dog!

Ran faultlessley for 4 months through bad weather then had a bit of trouble with a starter relay (which turned out to be the block connecter not the relay!)
